A soundtrack album to Bruce Springsteen‘s long-running Springsteen on Broadway stage production will be released on Friday, December 14, one day before the show is scheduled to end its 236-performance run at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City.
The album is a companion to the Netflix concert special Springsteen on Broadway, which premieres Sunday, December 16, at 3:01 a.m. ET/12:01 a.m. PT. The record features the full audio from the film, which includes The Boss performing 16 songs, most of which include a spoken introduction from Bruce. Springsteen’s wife, longtime E Street Band backing singer Patti Scialfa, joins him for two of the songs.
Among the well-known tunes featured in the show are “Growin’ Up,” “My Hometown,” “Thunder Road,” “The Promised Land,” “Born in the U.S.A.,” “Dancing in the Dark,” and, of course, “Born to Run.”
The soundtrack, which you can pre-order now, will be available as a two-CD set, a four-LP vinyl package, and digitally. In advance of the album, Bruce’s performance of “Land of Hope and Dreams” has been released as a digital single and via streaming services. You also can check out the track, and a teaser-trailer for the album, at Springsteen’s official YouTube channel.
Springsteen on Broadway opened in October 2017 for an initial eight-week run that’s been extended three times. The Boss was presented with a special Tony Award earlier this year in honor of his show.
