Bono serenades restaurant crowd while comforting crying child

Olaf HeineBono‘s voice has been called many things, but now we can add “soothing” to that list.

Last week, the members of U2 had just started playing a very intimate and unplugged version of “One” in a Paris restaurant called Refettorio, when a small child started crying. Without hesitating, Bono picked up the girl and held her, bouncing her gently as he started singing.

In a video posted to Instagram by Massimo Bottura, the restaurant’s founder, the girl seemed comforted and stopped crying.

Bottura thanked U2 in the caption of the video for their support of Refettorio, an upscale restaurant that exclusively serves free meals to those in need.

U2 is currently on the European leg of their Songs of Experience + Innocence tour, which wraps up November 13 in Berlin.  That show is a make-up date for one the band was forced to cancel several weeks ago after Bono lost his voice.
