Billy Joel gets “first stadium residency” at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park

Mike ColucciBilly Joel has been playing a monthly concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden for the past five years, and now he’s adding a residency in another city to his tour schedule.

Billy is getting what’s described as the first “music franchise” ever at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park , where the Phillies baseball team plays.  It’s also being called “the first stadium residency ever.”

The Piano Man will return to the venue for the sixth straight year for a scheduled to take place show this May 24. With the concert, Joel will become the first artist ever to play Citizens Bank Park six years in a row.  He also holds the record for the most live performances by any music artist in the venue’s 15-year history.

As part of the agreement, the Phillies are setting up a special kiosk to sell Billy Joel tour merch throughout the month of May.

Unlike his Garden franchise, Billy won’t be performing at the Philadelphia stadium every month.  It appears that the deal is for him to continue to play at the venue every year.

An American Express pre-sale starts January 7 and runs through January 10.  A Ticketmaster Verified Fan pre-sale runs from January 8 through January 10.  General public tickets go on sale January 11 via Ticketmaster.com.

Billy’s next concert date is January 11 in Orlando, Florida.  His first 2019 show at Madison Square Garden is scheduled for January 24.
