UMeThe soundtrack for one of David Bowie‘s signature movies is getting the reissue treatment.

The soundtrack to the 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth will be reissued on vinyl on May 12. The package replicates the album’s original jacket and artwork, plus the inner sleeve of photos of Bowie in the film.

Directed by late Muppets creator Jim HensonLabyrinth tells the story of a young girl, played by a then-15-year-old Jennifer Connelly, who travels to the center of an otherworldly maze to rescue her infant brother after she unwittingly wishes him away. Bowie plays Jareth, the Goblin King, who takes possession of the child. The movie also features numerous puppet creations from Henson’s Creature Shop.

In a 1986 interview with Movieline, Bowie recalled his involvement in the movie, saying, “I’d always wanted to be involved in the music-writing aspect of a movie that would appeal to children of all ages…and I must say that Jim gave me a completely free hand with it.”

He added, “The script itself was terribly amusing without being vicious or spiteful or bloody, and it also had a lot more heart than many other special effects movies. So I was pretty well hooked from the beginning.”

The Labyrinth soundtrack features a six-part instrumental score by film composer Trevor Jones, augmented by five original songs written by Bowie: “Underground,” “Magic Dance,” “Chilly Down,” “As the World Falls Down” and “Within You.” Bowie sings lead vocals on all except “Chilly Down.”
