Shepard Fairey/RepriseAhead of next Friday’s release of his posthumous box set An American Treasure, Tom Petty‘s daughter Adria Petty and his widow Dana Petty have just released “Gainesville,” a previously unreleased track he recorded in 1990.

The song, which shares its name with Petty’s hometown of Gainesville, FL, was recorded during Tom Petty and The HeartbreakersEcho sessions.

The track is the second sneak peek from the career-spanning box set. The first, “Keep A Little Soul,” became Petty’s fastest-climbing #1 on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, and made him the first artist ever to score a posthumous top 10 hit on that tally, which was introduced in 1996.

An American Treasure, which will be released on September 28, is a 60-track collection featuring previously unreleased tracks, rarities, alternate versions of well-known tunes, deep cuts and live performances. It was compiled and curated by Petty’s wife and daughter, along with Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell, keyboardist Benmont Tench, and Tom’s frequent studio collaborator Ryan Ulyate.

Petty died from mixed drug toxicity on October 2, 2017. He was 66.
