A ceremony to unveil the rock legends’ marker had been scheduled to take place today at 11:30 a.m. PT, but the event was postponed because of “severe weather conditions,” according to a statement from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

The message adds, “We are currently working on another date to reschedule this special event. Stay tuned for the announcement of the new rescheduled date to celebrate Aerosmith with their well deserved ‘Walk of Fame’ Ceremony.”

Meanwhile, frontman Steven Tyler has taken to his social media sites to post a humorous note of his own about the nixed event.

“FOLKS, WE TRIED TO GET OUR STAR TODAY…BUT [IT’S] UNDERWATER AND WE FORGOT OUR SCUBA GEAR!!” he writes. “NEW DATE FOR @HWDWALKOFFAME COMING SOON!! STAY TUNED AND STAY DRY! WE LOVE AND THANK YOU ALL!”

The band’s star will be located at 6752 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. The plaque would have been the 2,657th star unveiled on the Walk of Fame.

Actress Sharon Stone was to have been a guest speaker at the event. The last time weather caused the postponement of a Walk of Fame ceremony was in 2009, when the unveiling of a star honoring Tim Conway had to be rescheduled.

As previously reported, Aerosmith will kick off its first-ever Las Vegas residency, dubbed Deuces Are Wild, on April 6 at Park Theater at the new Park MGM resort. Check out the band’s full list of Vegas dates at MGMResorts.com.
