2017 Experience Hendrix Tour, Featuring Billy Cox, Buddy Guy & More, Kicking Off in February

Courtesy of Experience Hendrix LLCDetails have been announced for the 2017 installment of the Experience Hendrix Tour, which is scheduled to kick off on February 17 in Portland, Oregon, and is plotted out through a March 26 show in Prior Lake, Minnesota. The U.S. trek, which features features a variety of respected musicians celebrating the music and legacy of the late Jimi Hendrix, will visit nearly 30 cities in the West and Midwest.

As has become tradition, this year’s lineup will be anchored by former Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys bassist Billy Cox. The latest edition of the tour also will feature blues legend Buddy Guy, Black Label Society frontman and ex-Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Dweezil Zappa, Keb’ Mo’ and Beth Hart, among others.

Guy, who was a personal friend of Hendrix, says of the influential musician, “He was so creative, especially everything he did with the special effects. He took it all to this other place, and he could really play. He was one of a kind.”

Fans purchasing a pair of tickets to select Experience Hendrix Tour dates will receive a free CD copy of the new archival album Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69. The record, which will be released this Friday, September 30, captures a concert Hendrix and his backing group the Band of Gypsys played at the historic New York City venue.
